Hey gang. I didn't get out striper fishing at all this year having spent all my time smallmouth and chain pickerel fishing. But I tell myself I will get back into striper fishing next year. Yeah, I know there is still a lot of good fishing left for this year especially in the Bay of Fundy but time is tight so I thought I would simply prepare for next year.
Currently, I have a piece of junk rod that is only 6'6". That is the first thing that is being upgraded. I want a nice surf casting rod, probably over 10' long. What suggestions do you guys have for a good, hardy rod for beach casting for stripers?
With a new rod comes new line. I think I currently use 30 pound test braid. Any suggestions on line? I will be surf casting so I will be using at least 3 ounce weights so good line will be required. If the rod is able to handle 5 ounce weights to be able to cast further, what would you suggest for the pound test of braid then?
And of course, where would you suggest I get these items?
Thanks in advance.
