I was out again today, for the 4th time since the water's been hard, and I've been having a blast... but the whole time I've been out, I've seen people come and go and not a single person I've seen so far has marked their hole when they left! I've made it a policy to mark my hole with sticks and branches CLEARLY every time I've cut into the ice, and earlier today I had the living hell scared out of me when I went out on the ice and my foot went through a freshly concealed hole that was just snow covered enough to not be recognized as a hole! If this was a bigger hole, or a kid (I am planning on taking my son on the ice many times to fish with me this year!) how bad would this have been??? Why is it so hard to go out, enjoy yourselves on the ice, and then actually put a marker where you were?? I would hate to hear on the news any deaths related to ice fishing irresponsibility!
