JDFlyfisher, I build split bamboo rods, don't do much in the way of restoration or repair anymore, but I may be able to help out. What do you mean "loose"? Loose between the male/female ferrule or ferrule to cane? What type of ferrules are they; nickel silver or chrome plated brass? The nickel silver is on most high end and more "recent" rods whereas the chrome plated brass were on old or generally inexpensive rods. Do you know the make/model of the rod in question?
