Has anyone caught redfish in our waters? The north atlantic deep sea variation I mean not the popular game fish of the southern US. I read they are deep lurkers but also pelagic at times.

Hi Cp
The only place I ever heard of them being caught from shore was at Lock Lomond, Bonne Bay Newfoundland.
They stay in extremely deep water and there is few places the water is deep enough close to shore.
Good eating though.
Have some luck
Paul

I once caught them out the mouth of Halifax harbour about 12 years sgo handlining for groundfish. They are spiny as heck.
