RBANS (Responsible Bass Anglers of Nova Scotia) executive members are very pleased to announce that you can now join the association fully online. Please note that you can fill out our online form as well as pay your membership via secure online Pay Pal services. Just go to the site (RBANS Official Site) and then the membership page. Fill out the membership data and hit SUBMIT, this will take you to the payment page where you can select the membership type you want. Hit the Pay Now button and you will go to the online and secure payment centre via Pay-Pal.

We are thrilled with the very positive response thus far and strong numbers of people joining from all over the various regions of Nova Scotia. We will be releasing our inaugural newsletter within the next 30 to 45 days as well as begin planning for our 1st AGM to be held this fall. This is an exciting time for us with members joining and preparations being made for the first meeting where we will conduct elections to install a full time executive as well as work out the details of the association moving forward.

Now is a great time to lend your support and join RBANS during this important time. With a clear meeting of the members we will be further empowered to carry out a positive campaign to fulfil the objectives of the society.

Please let us know if you have any questions at all.

Sincerely,
RBANS Executive

No, it is not. RBANS is a new club (2009). There are many groups and organisations in this province. To my knowledge, the oldest bass organisation is CASA(Canadian Association of Smallmouth Anglers). It has existed for over 20 years. There are others such as Nova Bass, South Shore Bassmasters and many local groups as far south as Yarmouth all involved in some sort of social activity around the Smallmouth Bass. I believe there is a list of groups to choose from on this site. Hope this helps....

Thanks for the question.

RBANS is not a club, it does not have tournaments and it is not a place to go for a drink and hors d'oeuvres
.

It has not replaced anybody and that is not the intention for sure, RBANS wants to compliment and work alongside others. It is however a province wide association set up to work on smallmouth bass interests in Nova Scotia covering all regions. It, in its simplest form, wants to do what NSSA does for salmon, what TNS and TUCNS do for trout and so on.

At the same time, it will work with other entities for help with other species when possible. The bass in NS are not native and their niche, albeit important to many, is a managed one and we need to help them on one hand while on the other keep them under control as much as possible so that other groups can deal with native fisheries more effectively as they have huge issues to deal with already on top of smallmouth etc. It is a fine balancing act and we hope to be able to help with it moving forward.

If you appreciate smallmouth bass fishing and want to work in a positive way to support them then RBANS is a good option. If you wish to fish tournaments etc then you may want to look into your preferred/local club.

Have a great day.
