looking for new spot to fish mackerel from shore in Halifax. My son and I used to fish off an old pier at the mouth of the arm (end of Bluestone road) but it's been bought and there are now security cameras and new fencing up. Can I fish from the wharf/yacht club in Purcells cove? we've been to Dewolfe park, Alderney landing and Fishermans cove in eastern passage but find those are always so busy, it's hard to catch.

Thanks Gary! I follow this thread every year. I find the Mackerel up Sheet Harbour way generally seem to like lures vs the red feather triple rig. Weird eh.

This year the mackerel love the feathers and it doesn't matter what color I use, Red, green, yellow or white they take them all.

I'm looking for a place on the Eastern Shore for mackerel. I tried the Salmon River Bridge (just past Head of Jeddore heading east) from 0900-1100 this morning and saw nothing. There were 4 tinkers left to rot on the shore from someone else fishing yesterday.
I was using a mackerel jig in silver, one in green, one in pink. Nothing.
Hoping to pickup a feather rig this week.

Anyone know of a good spot between Cole harbour and sheet harbour?

Thanks!
