Well I decided to ask the help of everyone here to contact our city councillor, Mayor, and MLA to request that they come out with a new provincial or municipal law or by-law that will force companies that are building subdivisions arround water way or lakes to force them to include a public acess/ trail to the water or public easement within each subdivision. At the rate that HRM is expending especially arround our lakes we are quickly loosing access to our lakes. The way its going we will soon lo longer have acces to the lakes unless you own a water front house. I also did some enquiries with a lawyer about the anglers act. They law states access on uncultivated land only so if there's a cultivated field or a house on the property your not allowed to cross property to access the water to fish according to lawyers even with a fishing rod in hand!
So lets start sending email to them or phoning them to request changes before its too late. This week we lost our last access trail to Fraser lake in Timberlea, also there is plan in the near future to build a house on the water acces/boat launch area on cox lake.
The more of us that write them to ask for changes the more likely something can get done about it! included the mayors contact info. I strongly suggest to email your local councilor as well!
Mayor Mike Savage
