The PPA allows you, as a Fisher, to access most water, this of course on foot. Limitions are that it cannot be on Agricultral lands, etc. Land owners also have rights, they pay the taxes, pay for the land. Perhaps some of you should become land owners and have slobs access your lands...your tune will change quickly, when it is you that becomes the victim of slobs.

Luckily for us anglers, in this province, LAND owners simply cannot own the water.

I've got nothing against a property owner putting up signs on his or her property.

I've got plenty of problems with homeowners putting up signs on crown land and pretending it belongs to them.

If you've got slobs accessing YOUR lands. Beautiful thing about the law. You can kick them off.

You cannot kick them off, you can take them to court through the Civil system however, at your own expense, which obviously needs to be proven. Perhaps you need to read the PPA and the Angling act, before you post. This topic keeps getting raised, yet every Fisher has the right to access water, on foot, with some minor exclusions , such as you cannot travel on Cultivated lands, ect. Thanks for your support BTW, hope you some day have the same issues that most landowners have near waterways, ton of garbage, bottles, line..the list is long. Well what I meant was you can call the cops, and they'll tell them they need to leave, or be charged with trespassing, usually taking people to court isn't necessary.

Not disagreeing with the garbage left behind aspect at all, its disgusting and also a littering crime so cops can help with that too (at least in theory...).

I know there are tons of people who do this stuff and essentially ruin it for everyone else trying to enjoy the water, property owners and anglers alike.

The Police will not respond to a Property issue, in most cases. They told me it is a Civil matter. I also have emails here from the Minister of Justice, I challenged one part of the PPA to the other, Section 15 specifically. I asked a direct question" can I ask someone to leave my property, regardless that they are there, Fishing or Hunting, Legally under the Act. Her answer is No, even though one section contradicts another section. Recourse, to Court under a Civil Matter....very very expensive to the landowners.

Gerry , you are already given access, on foot, because of the PPA, with some exclusions. Very attractive deal here in  NS, given rights to private property access, without one ounce of financial contribution, have a look at other areas  in North America. Actually ignores the taxpayers whom own the land, gives essentially free access to private lands. Try that in PQ, Ont. or almost anywhere else. Those as well whom want access to lands, for boat launch  purposes, perhaps you should write the check...than no issues. Have at her.  Even better, have any of you attempted to access the Habitat Fund?

According to Lawyers from Blois and nickerson you can only cross a property on foot to go fishing if its uncultivated! Which meens forested or field. If theres a farmers field, Barn, or hous anywhere on that lot its considered cultivated. Just beware of this so you don't get in trouble! I will beleave a lawyer before airsay just saying! I also got the same answer from the NS dept of fisheries and DNR!

Trespassing is a civil mater and refuse to trespass on peoples property! This gives us fisherman a bad rep!

This is why we must write to our councilor, MLA and MP and request changes by forcing developer to leave designated access / easement to every lake and streams.

Buy the land my friend, or else stop complaining. Why should you have access to land I paid Thousands for and pay taxes on. While you do nothing other then wonder across it leaving your garbage. I will fight the PPA as I know others are and have as well.
