I was wondering if we do have a limit for pickerel since it is an invasive species and if for that same reason we can fish them all year long?

The specifics are in the handbook, It depends on your zone for the seasons and areas but I think the limit is 25 province wide, zone 2 for example

Chain Pickerel
Apr 1 to Sep 30, except the following:
Black Lake, West Branch Lake, Pictou
County, OPEN ALL YEAR.

Bag limit is 25

No I did not try Bisset lake but for sure I'll give a try, there is a lot of nice spot I see when i go on the highway toward windsor, I still have to know what place is good for what knd of fish, I got back into fishing only 2 years ago, my first year my wife was more laughing at me than anything lol but last years I started to catch some pickerel and bass and pickerel really got my interest since it's similar to pike, I will give a try to bisset lake, I'll go to buy my fishing license pretty soon.

Himdall..if you go to Bisset Lake go in behind the ball feilds there,, there is a path along the shore there that has some good spots, also trout in the small creek there, also I fish there and Morris a lot so if you see a guy in a small aluminum boat with a 2.2 merc it is probably me,,if I am alone you are more than welcome to join me.. I also got a new kayak this year so I may do most of my fishing out of that. Also try along the shore of Russel Lake some big bass in there.

If you're headed up Truro way, Shortt's Lake in Brookfield has some BIG pickerel and it is open all year with no bag limit. I would recommend top water around the edges in the weed beds, there is a lot of underwater vegetation that makes diving crankbaits an absolute pain and just fishing them in the open water is pretty unproductive anyway. A boat is nice there so you can follow the shore and work your way around casting toward the shore. I just got back into fishing about three years ago and have become pretty much obsessed with pickerel. They put up a great fight and taste delicious. If you're eating them get rid of the skin though, especially in the later season when it gets warm. The only description I can think of for the flavour the skin has is "weedy". Kinda like chomping down on a dandelion or a handful of grass. If you go across from the lake there is a smaller pond in behind a cemetery and there seems to be better fishing in there. Not as many big ones, but usually more action.
