Are there any decent rivers that you can fly fish for trout in Sydney? Going to be up there in a week and trying to look for mostly rainbows and browns, but specs as well.

You will be arriving at a good time to hit Middle river and Baddeck river for sea run specks and a few bows mixed in.

Right on, i will have to give those places a try. Thanks ducknuts
Went to middle river and baddect yesterday not a bite there for 3 hours using spinning rod with spinner and single hook , and fly rod with hopper .
Went again 3 days ago at around 5 pm , in baddect river , never got a trout but caught a sucker fish LOL never caught a trout yet and i went 14 times each time going 9 hours , and never got nothing , what are your thoughts on what to use , fly fishing in baddect river or middle river or they even running anymore . ? ive been using nymps various kinds but nothing works .
Crappy luck man,i did quite well in both those rivers mind you its been a couple weeks since i ve been there but now isnt prime time that ship has sailed but there is still decent fishing when there is water. I keep it pretty simple when troutin various drys depending on what is hatching or Mickey Finns and black Ghosts when they are not eating dries.Concentrate on the rips more so than the deep slower pools.I find they are more structure orientated this time of year as well so snaggy looking spots with a decent flow will produce fish. Thin clear(i like 3lb ultragreen myself) small diameter leader is a must as well i usually fish a long 12+ ft leader with a long tippet in the low clear water. They are there man just having crappy luck i guess.
