i was there last year and they had some pretty awesome prizes! im sure they are in need of some volunteers for the day of the tournament. i know last year they had a few kinks to work out but they did a really good job especially for the amount of ppl that showed up! if im not mistaken around 150 keith? maybe more?

3rd annual Striped Bass Derby
May 4th. ( 8am - 8pm)
Location: Stewiacke, NS, old hwy # 2 , about 2 km past the ball field.
3 age categories: 10 and under (8am-3pm), 11-17, 18 and over.
Prizes for each category: 1,2,3 longest bass
Smallest bass: 1st and 2nd
Grand prize: overall combined length of multiple catches
Random draws for each age category through out the day.
This derby is focused on" Together We Are Building Community Relationship "
Open to everyone ( non-Aboriginal and Aboriginal )
Entry fee: FREEEEEEE
Must register to qualify for prizes and random draws.
Hook and release only
No license required to participate in derby for EVERYONE..
Bait, lures and flies permitted( some restrictions apply under the new 2013 NS Provincial Regulations regarding transporting live bait)
Only Registered anglers qualify for prizes
Shoreline angling only, no watercraft
anglers can not fish with more one rod at a time, with no more than one hook attached to the line.
All bass measured from tip of nose to tip of tail
This derby is in cooperation with: DFO, NS Natural Resources, SBAANS, Acadia University and the Mi'kmaq Conservation Group.
Representatives will be available through out the day to answer any question you may have. There will also be information booths on site.
Last year there was approx. 400 combined anglers and spectators in attendance.
