Hey All, just thinking about my yearly trip DIY Bone-Fishing on Great Exuma, Direct flights from Toronto to Georgetown in 3 hours and loads of places to chose from Self-Catering/B&B or even luxury accommodation at Sandals flag-ship resort.

I have spent many trips/hours with friends walking the flats here and there are also plenty of decent guides.

Anyone looking for a very quiet place to kick back with the Family, this place has awesome beaches and is not crowded at all, I have posted links before to the place I stay but if anyone is thinking about a first-trip for Bones and cannot afford a guide-service, this place is decent. Rental Car is a MUST and Kayak/Wading options are plentiful. PM me for details.

Home owners live in Paris, Ontario and are good friends of ours.

Great looking spot Kev. I look forward to seeing some pics of the bones when you get back. What time of year do you go down?

What wt fly rod are you using for the bones? Looks like fantastic water for sure... are you wading the flats or using a kayak or boat to pole around with?

For the Bones, Greys Missionary 7 piece 8WT, for the Cuda's and Sharks, BLOKE SLP 10Wt. Nearly all my fishing is wading from Shore, though at the villa right where we stay, there are mangroves/flats which are a bit too muddy to wade so a Kayak is better at that location. More options are available with a Yak, but enough places are accessible wading.

I fish for the Bones mostly, but if the Lemon Sharks start to come in and create a hazard (you can't release a tired bone fish anywhere near the lemon sharks) I put the 8wt down and set up the 10Wt and target them. You have to Land the fly pretty close as their distance vision isn't too great. When you wade and stir up the mud, the Lemons think they are following mudding Bones and they follow you around so you hardly have to Stalk them.

Great Fun!. Tyger-Wire Leader is a must.

No Tarpon on the Flats Robbie, not that I have seen, but there are rumours of some in deeper cuts in the Mangroves but I would need a lot more time to play away from the family and folks we stay with so I keep my fishing down to 3-hours each morning before everyone is really awake, then I socialise and drink copious amounts of Rum in various colours and combinations of juices.. the Goombay Smash and Bahama Mama's are particularly good at messing up my Stalking and Casting capabilities, along with the Kalik beer.. :P .

Robbie, you don't need to travel that far bud, there's some decent Tampon fishing to be had right in the Bedford Basin  ..

Happy New Year Everyone!, I just got back into Bedford last night, had a really good time in the Bahamas again, this time I landed some Bigger Bones and snapped a couple of fish, the biggest of the trip (not pictured) was a 30" fish and took me a fair while to subdue, also my very first hook ups while sitting in a Kayak!.. interesting to say the least ;-) Hope to see some of you soon at Fly-Tying session in Bedford Area.
Kev.
