anyone have info on the old berkeley spartan sp-40 rods found one in rough shape and like the action the paint is chipped but the glass/graphite is un scaved would like to know how to get old paint off and what to use for new paint. Does sp-40 mean 4 wt line the google search was sayin it could be a 6/7 but feels like a 4/5 any info would be appreciated thanks in advance.

Hey Trout Snout,

Did a little searching. I believe the rod you found is fibreglass and is probably a 6/7 wt.

I have an older fibreglass cherrywood from the early 70's
Mines like new , belonged to my grandfather it's a C-40
6-7wt I suspect yours would be much same
I also have a herters 8wt fibreglass rod from a friends father
Who passed, it's like new Also, he did fish Margaree back in the 70's and
80's, but cared for the rod. He had a daiwa mooching reel on it
But it appears un used , I'm looking to trade or sell he reel
It's a bit big for my fishing it's a daiwa 175
