At are HWWA meeting last night  We had some people from the Coldbrook hatchery(FED) give us an update on what is going on with the Herbert and Meander Rivers and how they had been stocking adults and new hatchings in the two rivers for the last 3 years. There trying to jump start the salmon runs in the two rivers here in Hants. Another point they brought up was the fine if you keep any salmon, MAX $500000.00 ouch! So those trout fishing in those rivers take a good look at your catch . They also are being patrolled by Federal Fisheries officers.

Was there any thought or discussion about shutting these 2 rivers down to fishing for a few years to try and establish a returning salmon stock?

No  Op dog. no talk of that. Here's one for the all, we are not allowed to angle for the month of April, but we can dip smelts and gaspreu in the same rivers.Talked to Greg Stevens Fed Fishery.
