MINUTES OF THE
CASA EXEC MEETING
February 21, 2006
Offices of Crowe Dillon Robinson
Meeting opened at 5:30 p.m.
Members present; Tony Robinson, Martin Dodge, Eddie Halfyard, Dave Devenney, Ian Andrews and Ken Roberts
Guests: Jason LeBlanc and Ralph Hieghton – NS Dept Agriculture and Fisheries
Jason LeBlanc and Ralph Hieghton from Agriculture and Fisheries gave a presentation on the Smallmouth Bass Nesting Project. Slide show and discussion on this project the information that they are trying obtain from this initiative. The project will try to determine if spawning success, Spawning location or the presence of other species such as the chain pickerel influences bass year class strength. More details of this project will be available at the AGM as this is going to presented to the overall membership at the CASA AGM.
Treasurer – Tony Robison, presented CASA financial position as of February 21, 2006. Balance in current account as at that date was $3.200.00. In the Capital account the balance is approximately $2,700.00.
Tournament director Eddie Halfyard gave tournament Lakes Schedule for summer of 2006. At this time the five locations will be Morris Lake May 7, Grand Lake July 2, Shorts Lake Aug 13, Panuke Lake Sept 10 and Grand Lake for the Iron man Oct 15.
Sport & RV Show – will be held March 16, 17, 18 & 19. Mike Hanusaik at meeting time had the show registration package. CASA both will be in a different location from last year. Tony indicated that he had access to the carpet, table etc.. Ken Roberts is heading up this effort and will be calling on volunteers to man the booth during show times. Eddie will work on some literature for use at the show. Tony will also try to get a GPS unit from Lowrance to be raffled off.
AGM – Eddie and Tony will head up the Annual meeting process. The AGM is on April 9, 2006 at the Grand Lake Fire Hall. Ken Enta has volunteered to provide his famous chili and chowder for the AGM.
Eddie Halfyard name will be submitted as a member of the Inland Fisheries Advisory Council (IFAC) and a member of the Habitant Fund Advisory committee to replace Michael Robison.
CASA needs to have a newsletter out hopefully by the end of February. Tony said he would look after tasks needed to get this completed.
Tony commented that CASA do something in memory of Michael Robinson.
