NEWSLETTER – SUMMER 2005

We hope that you are all enjoying the beautiful Nova Scotia summer weather and that the fish are biting well. We’ve certainly heard reports of big bass being landed and hope that the trend continues into the three remaining CASA tournaments.

On the Forefront

These days there are few issues facing the CASA membership. Boat launches, conservations and regulatory concerns are at an all time low and for the time being CASA has little to focus on other than enjoying our greatest season.

That being said, one such way of enjoying you free time is spending it with family and friends competing in CASA bass tournaments.

The Tournament Scene

Our first regular season tournament held at Grand lake on July 3 rd was a success and implementation of the new “by-the-boat” format couldn’t have been smoother. Attendance was fair and a crowd just shy of 50 anglers sought the first place spot and its respective goodies. Team Jollymore found the fish and brought over 7.5 lbs to claim the top spot. Following close behind was team Naugle and team Loveys/MacDonald.

The oh-so-famous locals of Black River/Little River and Methals lakes are slated to be CASA’s next tournament stop. Not that anyone needs extra incentive to attend this tournament but there is a strong age class of bass moving through the population right now with many bass in the 17” range being caught. Start time is as usual (7 am) but we ask that you register between 5:45 and 6:45 am. Also, please pick up a detailed outline of the weigh-in procedure.

Rounding out the seasons tournaments is Porters lake on September 11 th 2005 and Grand Lake (Ironman) on October 16 th 2005.

Also, don’t forget that with our new format, a single large bag or single large fish can really shake up the race for Anglers-of-the-year and Lunker-of-the-year. With BRL, Porters and the Ironman remaining you can be assured that there will be some good fishing!

We hope to see you all at the next tournament,

Best wishes,

Eddie Halfyard

VP/ Tournament Director
